Shortly Yandex published research data about the Internet usage in different regions of Russian Federation. The results are based on data from diverse sources, i.e. Yandex.Metrika, Yandex.News, Yandex.Catalogues and research companies like „Foundation for Public Opinion “ and „TNS Russia“.
According to the Foundation for Public Opinion about 67 million people older than 18 years use Internet at least once per month, which is more than 57% of adult population. About 53 million of users (80%) get on the Internet every day. This means that in comparison with 2004 Internet audience in Russia doubled over the last 10 years. The most growth can be observed in Moscow and cities with the population ranged from 500K to 1 million people. About one third of the users are coming from more remote areas like Siberia, Caucuses and other central regions.
TNS Russia found out that the Russian Internet users are getting older. Internet consumers under 35 years are still in majority nevertheless especially in Moscow silver surfers in the age of 54 – 64 are more and more interested in digital media.
Finally according to the TNS results multiscreening usage of Internet in Russia is growing as almost rapidly as in the rest of the world. 2013 about 25,5 million consumers got on the Internet with the help of smartphone or tablet. This is about 40% of the population elder than 12 years old. The most mobile regions are Moscow and Ural with a growth of more than 65%.
