Pavel Durov sold his share of VKontakte

What is actually going on with VKontakte? Within the last weeks the most powerful Social Media Network in Russia makes headlines one by one.  First some guys found bugs, which enable to show personal user’s profiles with the help of mobile number; then VKontakte was for some mysterious reason offline… Finally on Friday the 24th of January VKonkte’s CEO Pavel Durov announced that he leaves his position and sells his 12% share of the company to his friend and partner Ivan Tavrin.

“During the last years I got rid of things, selling out and giving, everything that I have – beginning from furniture, ending by real property and companies. Not it is the moment when I want to get rid of the highest valued ownership I have – 12% share of VKontakte. I am very glad, that recently i’ve achieved this goal and sold my share to my friend Ivan Tavrin.” – posted Pavel on his wall.

Pavel also added that the fact of sale won’t have any influence on the further future of the Social Network. He will still stay an observer and consulter for Share Holders and will take care about the quality of the company’s development.

The rumors around Pavel’s plan to leave the CEO’s position have been going around on the Internet since one week. Now it is official. According to some sources, Pavel will dedicate himself to his new “baby” Telegram – a mobile messenger built based on platform Digital Fortress, which was presented in August 2013 and should be better than its main competitor WhatsApp.
