Alexey Basov, the Vice President of Rostelecom, one of the largest universal communications operator in Russia, announced the launch of the new national search engine „Sputnik“. The rumors about the new project of Rostelekom appeared on the Internet in October 2013. During the last 1-2 years the company invested around 20m dollars for its execution. Finally it happened, according to Mr. Basov the launch of Sputnik’s beta version is planned for this spring.
Sputnik should become more than search engine like Yandex, Rambler or Mail.ru. It should include number of digital solutions and services, which will help Internet users in Russia to solve their daily problems and tasks within safe local environment.
