For some times we have already reported about the official announcement of Pavel’s decision to leave his current position as CEO of VKontakte. There were different rumors about this story. Pavel himself made a joke about his announcement and tweeted it was only an April hoax. At the end of the day, in every joke, there is a piece of joke. Pavel is really leaving his position and today the current Managing Director Dmitri Sergeew officially confirmed this fact: “We are really pity about Pavel’s decision, but after 30 days we must accept his notice to quit.”
From now on VKontakte has no CEO. The company’s stakeholders must decide who will be able to replace Pavel Durov, the person who created the network and was passionate about his “baby”. During the trial period the deputy CEO Boris Dobrodeew and Managing Director Dmitri Sergeew will take responsibility for the whole company.
Additionally to the official press release Kseniya Tchabanenko – representative of Mail.ru Group, which is the main stakeholder of VKontakte, also confirmed the retirement of Pavel Durov.
The highlight of the whole drama was the reaction of Pavel Durov on the VKontakte’s announcement. According to his words his retirement was a big surprise for himself and he finds its very pity that he learned about it from newspapers.
